ABOUT TREIBER & STRAUB JEWLERS, SERVING MILWAUKEE SINCE 1980

HISTORY:

With more than 50 years’ experience in the fine jewelry industry, Michael Straub, founder and owner of Treiber & Straub Jewelers, began his career working for the Guild Division of The Zale Corporation, where he led the district management of Bailey Banks & Biddle, a renowned upscale jewelry firm that made and sold high quality merchandise. While working in the world of fine jewelry, Straub had an extremely specific vision about how to merchandise and market fine jewelry. His goal was to provide patrons with the world’s most captivating jewelry created by world-renowned designers and leaders within the Jewelry industry. He believed that if he could set the standards for quality, value, and customer service, he would be a success.

In 1980, Straub collaborated with his former colleague, John Treiber, and together they opened Treiber & Straub Jewelers at Mayfair Mall. Both men entertained the same vision of what the store should be and worked with unwavering determination and energy to make it succeed. They were committed to the concept of presenting a very select inventory of merchandise created by the elite names in jewelry design. They believed that Milwaukeeans could, and would, support such a business, if marketed correctly. They knew that Milwaukeeans appreciated value and quality and they were convinced that they could grow a clientele based on these factors. Slowly their reputation as authorities in the field began to develop and the shop became a destination for people seeking a breathtaking selection of fine jewelry, created by world-renowned designers, and fine Swiss timepieces.

In 1995, when Straub became the sole owner of Treiber & Straub Jewelers, he began his search for a new location to enhance the customer’s overall purchasing experience. In November 2020, Treiber & Straub closed the Mayfair location and opened the doors to the business’ current location, 14740 W. Capitol Drive in Brookfield. The official opening drew representatives from the world’s leading jewelry designers including David Yurman, Mikimoto, Rolex and Cartier.

The new location offered customers an elegant environment (which industry leaders and authorities compared in every aspect to the established venues of legendary jewelers including Tiffany’s, Harry Winston, and Cartier) which housed an expanded collection of designer jewelry, watches, and on-site services, in a sophisticated environment.

Today, the business is still locally owned and family operated. In its second generation, Straub’s daughters are an integral part of the company – from day-to-day operations to strategic planning. Kimberly (Straub), whom has been an essential part of the business for over 25 years, and Tracy (Straub Luttkus) work closely with their father to continue to grow and manage the business by staying rooted in the business’ founding principles of integrity and style.
